Chikwawa Police catch cattle thieves red-handed

Police in Chikwawa are keeping in the cooler two men Elick Peterson Jinja and Peter Benesi Thipa for allegedly stealing cattle.

According to Chancy Mfune
Public Relations Officer(PRO) for
Chikwawa Police Station, the two were arrested at Thabwa Police roadblock on their way to Blantyre with the two slaughtered cattle.

He says upon arrival at  Thabwa roadblock, the car was stopped and inspected by the officers who were on the checking point.


“That was when they found the carcasses believed to have been stolen and packed in the car boot.

“The officers then detained the car and arrested the two suspects.

“Later, the owner of the cattle was found and positively identified the slaughtered cattle,” says Mfune.

He adds that the motor vehicle has been brought to Chikwawa police station for further investigations and that two suspects will soon appear before court to answer charges of  theft of cattle.

Jinja hails from Sadulo village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Katunga in Chikwawa whilst Thipa comes from Chipotole village,Traditional Authority(T/A) Msamala in Balaka.
